چکیده

We aim to investigate the IR excess of 45 MW Cepheids combining different observables constrain presence CSE. used SPIPS algorithm, a robust implementation parallax-of-pulsation method that combines photometry, angular diameter, stellar effective temperature, and RV measurements in global modelling pulsation. obtained new photometric at mid-IR with VLT/VISIR complemented literature data. then compared mean magnitude from 0.5$\mu$m 70$\mu$m atmosphere models infer excess, which we attribute report least 29% our sample have detected excess. estimated 0.08mag K 0.13mag N. Other possibly but they were rejected due their low detection level single-star model. do not see any correlation between pulsation period as previously suspected for Cepheids, rather constant trend. also find CO absorption CSE, confirms features reported are mostly photospheric. No bias caused by CSE is on average distance estimates analysis fitted colour evolution stage. fraction an likely produced Longer exhibit greater than short periods observations theoretical dusty-wind models. mechanisms such free-free emission, among others, may be origin formation. show fitting leads Galaxy.

The galactic double – mode Cepheids

By considering the least–squares fits of the double–mode Cepheid light curves discussed in Paper I we defined their properties by their Fourier parameters and generalized phase differences G i,j. When plotting the latter quantities as a function of the respective order, the second order terms are confined in the region just below 3/2π; the third order terms have π/2 < G i,j < π, the fourth orde...

Period Changes in Galactic Classical Cepheids. Slow Evolution of Long-period Cepheids

We compared period changes derived from O − C diagrams for 63 classical Cepheids from our Galaxy with model calculations. We found that for Cepheids with log P > 1.0 the observed changes are smaller than predicted values, except variable SZ Cas. However some of the first overtone Cepheids, particularly EU Tau and Polaris, change its period much faster than it follows from theory. Summary of the...

Beat Cepheids as Probes of Stellar and Galactic Metallicity

The mere location of a Beat Cepheid model in a Period Ratio vs. Period diagram (Petersen diagram) puts very tight constraints on its metallicity Z. The Beat Cepheid Peterson diagrams are revisited with linear nonadiabatic turbulent convective models, and their accuracy as a probe for stellar metallicity is evaluated. They are shown to be largely independent of the helium content Y , and they ar...

Multiplicity of Galactic Cepheids from long-baseline interferometry

Context. More than 60% of Cepheids are in binary or multiple systems. Studying such systems could lead to a better understanding of the age and evolution of Cepheids. These are also useful tools to estimate the mass of Cepheids, and constrain theoretical models of their pulsation and evolution. Aims. We aim at determining the masses of Cepheids in binary systems, as well as their geometric dist...

Miras around the Galactic Center

We report results of our near-IR survey for variables in a field of view of 20′ by 30′ towards the Galactic Center (GC), where we detected 1364 long-period variables. We have established a method for the simultaneous estimation of distances and extinctions using the period-luminosity relations for the JHKs bands. Our method is applicable to Miras with periods in the range 100–350 days and mean ...
